Dear Overwhelmed Parent,
Yes, I can help.
“Our child was just diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, and we don’t know what to do next.”
“My child is having some really big feelings and behaviors. Is it supposed to be this hard?”
“My teenager is really struggling. To be honest, I am too. Can you help me?”
Welcome to Parenting with Brittany Joy (PBJ). My name is Brittany, and I am glad you are here. Here’s what I want you to know.
I am a Parent Coach who believes everyone is deserving of love and belonging.
I believe all the different aspects of our personality are valuable and worthy. Yes—even the parts of us that feel angry, critical, anxious, guilty, and shameful. I believe these parts of us have a positive intention and a story to share.
I believe that you have a good child.
I believe the acting out parts of your children are valuable and worthy. I believe that children’s (mis)behaviors are actually a form of communication and a clue to what is going on inside. When we bring curiosity toward behaviors, we can truly understand the “why” behind them. This clarity then lends space for compassion. With compassion, you can connect with and give care to these parts of your child, reducing their need for intense behaviors and deepening the relationship you have with your child.
I believe that you are a good parent.
When you bring curiosity to the parts of yourself triggered by your child’s behavior, you can truly understand the “why” behind your reactions. This clarity then lends space to bring in compassion, softening a critical voice that sometimes whispers, sometimes screams, “I am a bad parent.” I can help you connect and give care to these parts, sending messages of love and acceptance to re-parent old wounds, and ultimately deepen the relationship you have with yourself.
I am a Parent Coach who will come alongside you on your parenting journey and meet you wherever you are.
My intention is to listen and honor your unique story with authenticity and compassion. My goal is to provide an inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming, queer-affirming, trauma-sensitive environment that is safe and shame-free. Parenting is hard. You don’t have to do it alone.
